The joke is that she gets it right just by swiping the razor across her face once, while that silly Dad gets a bunch of cuts! It should not be too surprising one would think ordinary razors wouldn’t be able to cut her skin. We get a small scene with the Professor teaching her how to shave. Speaking of man man man man man, the beard ray gave Bubbles a beard! Unlike the time she got a beard in Phantasm Chasm, where it was the one character trait she had in that episode that didn’t involve her getting fat, Bubbles is really not liking this. That’s all he is, and that’s all he ever will be. After accidently calling Bubbles a cutie, he decides to take a bacon bath. We never find out how would this affect the already hairy dogs, as her unwillingness to let this injustice stand allows Bubbles to wake up and block this shot with her face. Having taken down the Powerpuff Girls, he sets his sights on a particular picture: one of the famous dogs playing poker pictures. I guess it is all because it’s a beard in the shape of a hand slap rather than a hand slap in the shape of a baguette. I would show the silhouette shot, but the reboot continues its odd mannerism of only showing the violence when it’s the girls that are getting hit. Of course, this amount of girl power just can’t be shown to our impressionable youth to shield our children’s eyes from such wonton violence against this dispicable creature, they decide to put most of this punch in silhouette.Īfter threatening to continue the beatdown, Manboy slaps the girls when they’re off guard. He zaps every painting in the museum to get a brand new manly beard, because to him, nothing beats man power.īubbles disagrees, of course, with this reboot’s motto: “girl power”! Remember that, by the way, the marketing team pushed that in a lot of the merchandise. If you don’t remember Manboy from the last two Man Up episodes, he makes his gimmick quite clear here: he’s a man man man, and he doesn’t like anything that isn’t man man man. Even having the guy scream at this vandalism could have worked. Manboy: More like…“Screaming For A Beard”! (The Scream gets zapped, gets a new beard) This would have been a good place for a Narrator monologue, but instead, we get a random guy talking about The Scream. That word seems to be so rare in this reboot if only there was someone to remind us what city this show takes place in. The episode starts with the Townsville Art Museum. Does Man Up 3 live up to Man Up 2? Does it even live up to Man Up 1? Let’s just get this over with. Sure, there Toy Story 3, Grand Theft Auto 3 and, funnily enough, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, but I have high doubts this will live up to those. While I didn’t exactly like it at first with its usual “Buttercup having to save her two sisters again” narrative, but I can’t deny that it’s a far more interesting watch than the first one. I can add one more to that list, even if it’s not anywhere close to any of them: Man Up 2: Still Man-ing. Street Fighter II, Team Fortress 2, Star Trek II, The Empire Strikes Back, The Godfather II, et cetera, et cetera. Sequels are never as good as the original, but that’s not always true. I can think of what category this episode falls in, and I’m not thinking “manly”. Written & Storyboarded by: Kyle Neswald, Benjamin P.
